How to apply a policy in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

Policy’s work in a top down approach. Policy’s applied at the top are inherited down. You need to stop inheritances before you can apply a policy to a group.

Let’s say we want to replace the Exceptions Policy in Batley, We first need to de-tick “Inherit Policies and settings from Parent group” (This stops inheritance, but keeps the original policy’s)

On tasks next to Exceptions, select “replace policy”

policy3

You can now locate the policy’s you have created and apply them to the exception for the “Desktop” group in Batley. Policy’s will change on the client device when they heart beat runs and checks in with SEPM
